Harcourts Daffodil Raceday raising funds for Cancer Society Northland on Saturday 1st September.

Part of the national racing industry's promotion to increase awareness and raise monies for the regional Cancer Societies the day features the Harcourts Daffodil Raceday High Tea.

September 1 Harcourts Daffodil Raceday

The Harcourts Daffodil Raceday is a SMOKE-FREE afternoon of thoroughbred racing fun! Wearing yellow will show your support for the Cancer Society's Daffodil fund raising.

Come along to celebrate the fantastic work of the Cancer Society and contribute to a great cause. There will be the opportunity to make a gold coin donation to the Cancer Society volunteers at the meeting.

The feature fundraising event is the Harcourts Daffodil Raceday High Tea.

For $60 pp enjoy an A'Fare Catering prepared High Tea at a reserved table in the adjoining Bonecrusher and Surfbreak Lounges with the entertainment of thoroughbred racing and the backdrop of a scenic vista of Bream Bay. Included in the price is a racebook to guide your betting and three complimentary beverages from the listed Red Lion portfolio of beers and wines.

$10 from your payment is a direct donation to Cancer Society Northland. Email - info@ruakakaracing.co.nz

The social afternoon of fun at the Harcourts Daffodil Raceday High Tea will include fashions from Whangarei Menswear and Suit Hire, and Polwarth Design, being paraded to keep you updated with the latest trends, spot prize giveaways and lots of activities including fund raising auctions and a sweepstake on the main race.

Our celebrity sporting ambassador for the day will be Anita McLaren, a Commonwealth gold and bronze medallist for the NZ Black Sticks. There will be a promotion for two people to win entry to the High Tea and join Anita at her table for the afternoon.

The "kids-activity-corner" will be providing face painting and a Daffodil colouring competition that will be judged by Black Sticks Anita McLaren.

To help you select a bet in each race, one rider will be picked by the Club to wear the Cancer Society Silks. If that rider wins the race the NZ Racing Board will donate $500 to the Cancer Society Northland.

The free Whangarei Passenger Bus Services will be operating with times to be confirmed closer to the event and detailed on this website and the Club’s Facebook.

Harcourts and the Club are pleased to have joined the national NZ Racing Board Daffodil promotion to help grow the contribution of the racing industry to the regional Cancer Societies. Funds raised at the Ruakaka meeting are directed to the Cancer Society Northland, who will assist with the promotion on the day.

Originating in Hawke’s Bay in 2014, the Daffodil Raceday initiative has donated more than $150,000 to the NZ Cancer Society. In 2016, the New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) took the concept nationally with supporting events at other Thoroughbred racecourses leading up to the Hawke’s Bay event and then to Harness Clubs in 2017.

The series will begin in Hawke’s Bay with the Tarzino Trophy Daffodil Raceday and Whangarei with the Harcourts Daffodil Raceday on the 1st September, with supporting events at racecourses in each region throughout September and October.
