Bill Colgan / Thursday, 10 August 2017 / Categories: Latest News LIQUOR LICENCE CHANGES FOR 2017/18 – NO BYO NO BYO PERMITTED AT RUAKAKA RACE MEETINGS The annual special liquor licence that the Club receives from the Whangarei District Council’s District Licensing Committee no longer permits the bringing of alcohol onto the venue during a race meeting. The Club is not permitted to have any byo designated areas nor a restricted policy on byo. This policy is applicable from the issuance of our licence this week for 2017/18. Under the licence the Club must take steps to ensure that no alcohol is brought onto the premises during the race meeting, so please be aware the Club now has a legal obligation to meet and may require an inspection of bags on entering the course. Any alcohol brought to the venue (including car parks) will be confiscated by the Club and not be able to be consumed. The alcohol would be available to be collected at the end of the meeting. To retain a licence to sell alcohol the Club must adhere to the requirements of its approved special liquor licence. This change impacts on a very small number of patrons but the restricted byo policy on the grandstand lawn was popular among the pop up tent families at the summer meeting.
