Join the celebrations of 40 years of racing at Ruakaka and the upgrading of the the three year old Northland Breeders Stakes to Group 3.
Tavistock Northland Breeders Stakes
A select field of eight runners have accepted for the race at 3.34pm this Saturday. Local star Prom Queen, from the Rae Racing stables is being challenged by Tony Pike's smart colt Felton Road.
The Logan/Gibbs team have accepted with first starter Not Usual Heart and Kim O'Riley has Rakau Whero who will benefit enormously from its last start when fifth to Prom Queen.
The wet conditions of the tracks south of Auckland has significantly impacted on runner numbers for the meeting but the open 1200 metre has attracted a number of highly rated horses like Hiflyer, Volks Lightning Ronchi and Pepper Mill.
Les Donaldson will be presenting the Patron's Cup for race 3 at 1.52pm over 2100 metres. The field is dominated by local stayers with Kaharau, Smedley, Zafrenzy, Greencast and Toorak Tower all winners at the track.
