Harcourts Daffodil Raceday

Want to help the Cancer Society Northland with their fundraising for Daffodil Day?

The Daffodil Raceday series for 2018 continues to build on the success of the initiative from the last four years. Originating in Hawke’s Bay in 2014, the Daffodil Raceday initiative has donated more than $150,000 to the NZ Cancer Society.

The series will begin in Hawke’s Bay with the Tarzino Trophy Daffodil Raceday and Ruakaka with the Harcourts Daffodil Raceday on the 1st September, with supporting events at racecourses in each region throughout September and October.

Come along to the Harcourts Daffodil Raceday High Tea on Saturday 1 September at Ruakaka and $10 of each ticket will be donated to the Cancer Society, Northland. Full details of the High Tea can be found on our Events page.

In a unique promotion the Club has to select a jockey in each race to wear the Daffodil silks and if the rider wins the race, the NZRB will donate $500 to the Cancer Society Northland. Will you follow the Club’s Daffodil pick or select your own?

The Harcourts High Tea will feature fashions by Whangarei Menswear and Suit Hire and Polwarth Design plus a number of auction items to add to the Cancer Society gold coin fundraising on the day.

Cambridge Stud Northland Breeders’ Stakes G3

Northland’s premium thoroughbred horse race of the year is the $70,000 Group 3 Cambridge Stud Northland Breeders’ Stakes over 1200 metres for three-year-olds and will be held on Saturday 15th September.

This race has continued to grow in stature and attracts the very best of those three-year-olds up and ready to go in the early spring. Included in the field will be a number of the future stars for later in the spring or the northern summer feature races.

For the first time the race will also be complemented by the Ruakaka Cup over 2100 metres for rating 82 graded runners.

For the racing purists this is not a race meeting to miss.
