Bill Colgan / Monday, 15 October 2018 / Categories: Latest News New Race Meeting for Ruakaka. Can you sneak the Friday arvo off on 16th November? A new race meeting is scheduled to be held at the Ruakaka racecourse on Friday 16th November to replace the Dargaville Racing Club's meeting. NZ Thoroughbred Racing announced yesterday (Monday 15th October) that "Due to on-going issues with the Dargaville track the northern meeting scheduled for Friday 16 November will now be run at Ruakaka Racecourse with the licence transferred to the Whangarei RC." The Whangarei RC will conduct the meeting as the Dargaville RC declined the invitation to hold the meeting at the Ruakaka racecourse. This enables Northland owners and trainers to still be able to have a local meeting and not lose the meeting from the region. The race programme will be amended by changing both the Rating 82 1800m race and the Maiden 2000m race to 2100m because the course doesn't have starting positions for those distances. It is early days but race 1 is expected to be at 12.32pm and the last at 4.31pm with the Whangarei free return race day bus picking up at Kamo Club at 11.15; Kamo Hotel 11.20; Kensington Tavern 11.30; Rose St Terminal 11.40 and the Judge House of Ale at 11.45.
